This position is pending reclassification to Governement Analyst II (Communications Liaision)

This is a highly professional position responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing various communication strategies for the Division of Children’s Medical Services.

Description and Task

  • This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the internal and strategic communications of Children’s Medical Services.

  • Serve as a Communications liaison regarding known digital media best practices, department branding, and emerging trends for all program areas, regions, institutions, and offices.

  • Create and disseminate the Division’s statewide in-house publications.

  • Collect and process relevant information in the appropriate format, such as press release, social media, web post, or other method of delivery.

  • Format and edit documents, publications, and presentations for program offices and department leadership.

  • Assist the Department’s Office of Communications to organize and staff press conferences, media events, editorial boards, groundbreakings, ribbon-cuttings, bill-signings, public meetings, and media events.

  • Establish an internal communications strategy in conjunction with the Division Director and the Department’s Office of Communications.

  • Ensure Division initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.

  • Plan, edit, and write content for a variety of internal communications media, such as a staff intranet, monthly deliverables, or regular email bulletin.

  • Storyboard or translate ideas to the Department’s Office of Communications or vendor creative team.

  • Develop and deliver presentations at statewide events.

  • Draft messages or scripts from leadership for presentation to employees in written or spoken form.

  • Ensure internal communication messages are consistent across all media and for different areas of the Division.

  • Coordinate, in conjunction with the Division Director and the Department’s Office of Communications, the communication response to crisis situations which affect organizational perception and reputation.

  • Assist to create and coordinate marketing plans for the Divisions programs.

  • Assist to ensure Division compliance with Department marketing and communications policies.

  • Provides leadership, planning, and coordination for special projects and assignments related to statewide campaigns and projects.

  • Support design services for materials for public dissemination.

  • Responsible for coordinating marketing research and evaluation of pre and post campaign launches

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Health Communication or Business and three (3) years of professional experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, or business. Professional or paraprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

    Requirements:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud apps, Publisher, Canva, or other creative content tools.

  • Experience with developing creative content (PowerPoints, newsletters, websites, infographics).

  • Experience writing and editing content for both internal and external stakeholders, such as newsletters, communications (e.g., emails, website), or meeting minutes.

  • Ability to travel within the Tallahassee area to support offsite meetings or events using your own vehicle.

    Additional preferences:

  • Managing projects on a strict deadline.

  • Working with little supervision.

  • Experience coordinating and running in-person and virtual meetings, workshops, or other events of various sizes.

  • Ability to walk, kneel, bend, twist, lift and carry light to medium loads (up to 50 pounds).
