Position Summary:

The Walmart App as you see it today is a relatively new app experience, built from scratch, using the best ideas and practices in modern architecture and engineering. Our efforts empower our customers to "Save Money", and therefore "Live Better."

You will be a key member of the iOS Platform team which owns responsibility for engineering tools, processes, capabilities, and features that affect the entire Walmart App; a foundational component in the support of our 265 million customers.

From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

About Team:

Building the right technology foundation for Infrastructure & platforms is vital to success at the scale of Walmart. Our team builds and maintains the foundational technologies that support the tech organization. Included in this are data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure. All of these products and services are supported by scalable and powerful infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless employee and customer experience across stores, digital channels, and distribution centers.

What you'll do:

You will be designing and delivering readable, maintainable, testable, scalable, reusable, and efficient code. You'll have an opportunity to work in an Agile team with Engineers, Designers, and Product Managers to solve most exciting and challenging problems. Collaborate with Backend teams to design effective and understandable APIs. Follow established architecture patterns and suggest improvements. You'll have opportunity to manage the complex challenges of micro service and scale which are unique to Walmart's e-commerce, stores, and omni-channel platform, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, complex triaging and analysis, and large-scale system design.

  • Demonstrate up-to-date expertise in Software Engineering and apply this to the development of action plans.

  • Analyze business problems to design solutions and/or implements and test complex code changes for specific requirements or application.

  • Deliver high quality code for the product requirements in an agile scrum sprint.

  • Investigate and fix software defects.

  • Assure app stability and code coverage by writing Unit and Functional tests.

  • Collaborate with platform team members across Web, iOS and Android to align on solutions across platforms.

  • Utilize industry open-source research, tools, and practices to improve Walmart technology environment.

  • Design complex systems which are scalable and fault tolerant. You will reason about trade-offs (timeliness/accuracy/resource usage) of multiple algorithmic solutions and to highlight the difference in product outcomes.

  • Implement application which meet throughput and SLAs requirements. Implement unit test cases, perform code reviews, and write feature documentation. Perform build, deployment, and continuous integration processes to move the code and configurations from local development environments to QA & Production environments.

  • Perform code reviews of proposed source changes

What you'll bring:

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject

  • 5+ years of professional experience in various elements of software development - native mobile, iOS and hands-on coding experience in the past

  • Experience with a consumer facing app and ecommerce or retail shopping

  • Previous knowledge of

  • Designing and developing advanced applications for the iOS platform

  • Unit-testing code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability

  • Work with outside data sources and APIs

  • Experience translating wireframes into pixel-perfect views

  • Knowledgeable about animation and screen transitions

  • Experience with iOS SDK, Services, and various methods of background processing

  • Experience working with remote data via REST, JSON, Google Cloud Messaging, and the HTTP protocol

  • Experience with iOS APIs, such as Maps, Location, and Push Notifications

  • Experience with third-party libraries and APIs

  • Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle and writing readable, maintainable, performant object-oriented code

  • Experience working with Swift, Coroutines, MVVM, MVVM Clean, View Models, Repository Design pattern, and other architectures

  • Experience with Combine a plus

  • Being a team player, critical thinker, and exhibiting problem-solving skills

  • Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
