Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

We are the Cloud Security group, and we build services that process large amounts of data every day to detect software and network related vulnerabilities, across millions of nodes and endpoints. We focus on securing the space of internal and public endpoints across Microsoft. That is millions of endpoints that change constantly, with a diverse set of applications powering them. We research and apply the best-in-class tools to scan these endpoints, while also building internet scale services to run these detections efficiently. We are seeking a proficient Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help drive our continued success.

Responsibilities

  • You will work closely with Program Managers to translate their asks into scalable yet easy to maintain services.

  • You will collaborate with your peers to design and build highly available services, from alpha/preview and eventual release to production.

  • You will work in a fast-paced environment with industry standard cloud frameworks such as Kubernetes, Prometheus & Grafana and Azure Data Framework.

  • You will use a variety of open source and vendor provided security tools to launch security detections have their findings reported at scale.

  • A successful candidate will be self-motivated and a fast learner with good collaboration skills and a focus on quality.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in designing, delivering and operating large scale cloud services.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Kubernetes or developing on Azure/AWS/GCP/ is a big plus

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
