Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY: Real-Time monitoring of staff efficiency, patterns, and time management related to patient treatment and movement through the Emergency Department. Assist in reducing our patients overall wait times through the ED.

Experience/Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  1. One year healthcare experience in an Emergency Room.

  5. Ability to meet the public professionally and courteously, as well physicians and other healthcare team members.

  6. Ability to problem solve.

  8. Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

  9. Ability to synthesize basic data and translate it into action.

  10. Demonstrates strong clinical assessment, nursing intervention, and strong communication/leadership skills.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

  1. Facilitate proper patient placement and movement throughout the department.

  2. Monitors room availability and turnover.

  3. Assures that orders, collections and procedures are coordinated.

  4. Monitor wait times of test results (i.e. Labs, X-Rays) and intervene to include contacting physicians and departments as needed.

  5. Notified the MD and other providers when a patient is ready for disposition.

  6. Is a liason with other departments and checks on delays in all sub-processes, including lab, imaging, pharmacy and consults.

  7. Evaluation of TrackER, TeleTrack and EDMV.

  8. Relief Coordinator when assigned.

  9. Make recommendations to leadership based off findings through observations or experience to enhance current processes or create new practices to better serve customers, staff, and hospital system.

  10. Continuously communicates with CNC/Relief Charge on changes, influxes of patients, and opportunities identified in the flow process.

  11. Monitor Emergency Department waiting room for surge condition and communicate with Sort Nurse

  12. Continuous communication with Sort/Triage staff to ensure appropriate placement of patients.

  13. Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma from an accredited institution required.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Current FL RN license required or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held in another state, active FL RN compact license required within 90 days of hire. Advanced Nurse Practitioner license acceptable· American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification required within 30 days* · American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification (45 day grace period)* · American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course and Certification (45 day grace period)* *Instructor certifications interchangeable with required certifications PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : This position is classified as Medium-Heavy Work which is defined as exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, 35 pounds frequently and 15 pounds constantly.

HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital is a 238-bed acute care hospital. For 40 years, we have served Bay County and the surrounding communities. We are an accredited facility offering comprehensive care. This includes advanced cardiac assessment and treatment. We offer certified women's services. Our hospital has dedicated spaces for adult and pediatric emergency services. We are certified in Advanced Primary Stroke Care. Our hospital is accredited as a Comprehensive Breast Care Center. We are the area's only Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI and Resuscitation. Other services that we offer include orthopedic care and joint replacement, robotic surgery, cardiac, vascular, and interventional services. We are home to the only Pediatric ER in the community. We have the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in the region. Together, we continue to raise the bar in healthcare.
