The role you’ll contribute:

The Gamma Knife (GK) Navigator facilitates an evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach to the Gamma Knife patient within the Brain Services Department. Provides direct clinical service to patients and families including care management and patient education to understand diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up regimen. Provides education and mentoring to advance staff knowledge at the campus. Gathers, abstracts and reviews data for process and quality improvement. Helps and oversees the navigation of patients/families through the medical system and ensures timely and appropriate evaluation, treatment, educational services; and access to appropriate resources, as needed. May facilitate/ coordinate patient support and/or educational groups and continually strive for innovative and creative strategies to impact and improve patient quality of life. Assists in program development and expansion. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Formulates an individualized care plan based on therapeutic principles as appropriate for age/psychological development; evaluates the effectiveness of nursing/medical interventions and makes modifications as needed in accomplishing desired patient outcomes; assists in the assessment of the patient with TeleMedicine as needed.

  • Initiates patient coordination at the patient’s entry point into the system.Prepares patient case for pre-procedural review with multi-disciplinary team.Ensures patient case follows clinical path prescribed/therapeutic interventions via case review process.

  • Communicates effectively with physicians, healthcare team, patients, and families to ensure coordinated and cohesive execution of evidence-based quality patient care; establishes/maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients/families.

  • Serves as patient resource and advocate, promoting patient access to available services, tools and support.Develops, coordinates and documents patient education.

  • Collaborates with Neurosurgeons and their assistants, Radiation Oncologists, and Gamma Knife team to schedule patients for Gamma Knife procedures and consultations.

  • Addresses and responds to patient clinical questions.Responds to email correspondence from hospital staff, administrators, and physician offices, securing necessary information and resolving issues within a timely manner.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Health Administration

  • Three to five years’ experience in neuroscience nursing or related healthcare field

  • Current valid State of Florida license as a registered professional nurse
