Firm Risk Management Morgan Stanley's Firm Risk Management (FRM) Division is an exciting and rapidly growing space. We support Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, model and other risks.

Background on the Position The role will reside within the Firm Risk Management's Risk Analytics area. Risk Analytics develops market risk analytics, credit risk analytics and scenario analytics models providing quantitative analysis on the Firm's risk exposures. By developing mathematical and statistical models, Risk Analytics calculates the risks associated with specified sets of financial positions and day-to-day operations.

Morgan Stanley is seeking an Associate in its Market Risk Analytics group with a focus on FRTB Internal Models Approach (IMA). The Market Risk Analytics group develops, maintains, and monitors the performance of market risk and stress testing models for Morgan Stanley's portfolio of trading assets, as required by the regulatory framework and the Firm's risk management needs. The new hire will join the Market Risk Analytics team to undertake research, modelling, development, and analysis of models-based measures under FRTB. The position will play a key role in enhancing the current risk management framework and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities - Develop and implement FRTB IMA models in collaboration with asset class teams - Interpret model outputs and communicate findings to stakeholders, including risk managers, capital, front office, and senior management - Develop analytical tooling to support FRTB capital analysis - Conduct quantitative analysis to assess model performance and outcome for at top of the house portfolio and trading desk level - Collaborate with IT teams to ensure smooth integration of models and analytical tooling in existing systems and infrastructure - Respond to audit, regulatory requests.

Experience - Requires a Master's or higher degree in Quantitative Finance, Economics, Math/Physics/Engineering or a related field of study - Requires two (2) years of experience as an Associate, Analyst or equivalent in VaR/ FRTB/Derivatives asset pricing or related quantitative fields - Proficiency in Python and database query languages - Strong skills in Communication, Critical Thinking, and Problem Solving and Collaboration - Curious about risk management, financial products, markets, and regulation - Strong attention to detail and ability to provide information in usable formats

This role is hybrid and currently requires in office attendance 3 days/week. The in office requirement is subject to change at any time.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $140,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
