Salary and Grade:$55,000 per year; Grade 11, Exempt

    Position Overview:

    The Music and Ministry Coordinator (MMC) assists the Corps Officers in various areas of ministry and discipleship with the sole purpose of winning souls and developing committed soldiers for Christ, as well as leads and develops a well-rounded music and creative arts ministry that enhances Sunday and other avenues of worship and ministry. In addition, the MMC oversees the social media of the church.

Responsibilities

Description of Position:

  • Work closely with the Corps Officers to pastor the congregation, embrace a vision of growth, and fill in when the officer is away.

  • Under the supervision of the Corps Officers, assist in the preparation of Sunday worship music and other components of worship.

  • Research and develop a welcoming and inviting audio/video platform, as well as train others for its operation.

  • Under the supervision of the Corps Officers, develop and implement a plan for a weekly music/arts ministry for youth and adults that will lead to participation in Sunday Worship and other ministry opportunities.

  • Maintain an inventory of all musical instruments, as well as provide maintenance as appropriate.

  • Develop and follow a music & ministry budget plan.

  • Serve as the point person for pastoral care for youth, including visitation and celebrating accomplishments, such as band concerts, sporting events and graduations.

  • Assist the Corps Officer with evaluating the local community dynamics, working together to implement a plan that will encourage holistic growth.

  • Serve as the bridge to the afterschool and summer day camp program, engaging with youth and parents and developing a weekly ministry during the school year in the afterschool program.

  • Coordinate with the Corps Officers in various ministry programs by way of program promotion, door to door visitation/evangelism, up-to-date registrations, transportation, and follow-up.

  • Lead and assist with various worship, prayer, and evangelistic services/outreach, including, but not limited to, teaching Sunday School class, lead or co-lead youth discipleship classes (Jr. Soldier & Corps Cadets), and lead weekday youth programs.

  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate Vacation Bible School, working closely with officers, program staff, and corps volunteers.

  • Plan, prepare, facilitate unique evangelism/outreach opportunities, such as Messy Church and Harvest Festival, Summer events/movie nights, etc., working closely with the Corps Officers, program staff, and Corps volunteers.

  • Develop a plan to better utilize social media platforms and keep website current.

  • Work closely with the Corps Officers to develop a transportation schedule to various corps programs on Sundays, weekdays, and other corps events. special events.

  • Serve as an active member of the Corps Council, attending meetings regularly and working together to accomplish goals.

  • Work with Program Specialist to recruit and transport campers for summer camp and bridge participants in sports and afterschool programming into corps mainline and Sunday programs.

  • Meet with Corps Officers on a regular basis for planning and strategy.

  • Perform related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and/or 3–5 years’ experience in youth, music or church leadership.

  • A Christian with deep biblical and moral convictions with a demonstrated love for all of Gods people, upholding the Christian life and biblical standards in personal and professional life.

  • Training and experience in music ministry, with a demonstrated ability to play either guitar or piano for leading in worship and teaching.

  • Uniformed Salvationist is preferred; however, the candidate must be in agreement with the doctrinal position of The Salvation Army and be willing to be fully committed to attend Sundays and throughout the week thus making The Salvation Army their church.

  • Possess a high level of confidentiality, yet fully understand the need to share updates and concerns with the corps officer as the ordained pastor.

  • Have a strong desire to understand and reach youth and young adults of today and be willing to disciple them to be future leaders in the corps, working with corps officer on action plans.

  • Strong ability to lead, organize, and supervise individuals and groups.

  • Demonstrate a spirit of teachability and the ability to work with others.

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Ability to make judgement calls in the absence of the officer/supervisor.

  • Computer literate including a full understanding of Microsoft 365: Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, Powerpoint, Canva, Social Media outlets, etc.

  • Valid PA Driver’s License

  • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 along with renewals every five years.
