Position Summary:

The Connected Vehicle Services division of SiriusXM builds and delivers software-based services on our connected car platform. The software we develop not only adds convenience to the daily life of our subscribers, but safety and security as well; when the worst happens, our software helps to save lives.

We are in the early days of driving off the monolithic server beasts in favor of high-quality, at-scale microservices in a cloud environment.

We are looking for a motivated and passionate systems/storage/SAN craftsperson to help us create, extend, and maintain the core of our connected car software platform as we expand past our current offerings in services related to safety, security and convenience in order to take our business to the next level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for storage area network and backup solutions in a heterogenous environment.

  • Provide routine maintenance, patches and upgrades to storage hardware, software and firmware

  • Document storage administration and support efforts, which include troubleshooting methodology, work logs, and documenting resolutions.

  • Administer and monitor multiple storage arrays, measuring system stability, availability and performance in a heterogenous environment including Windows, Unix, Linux, and VMware.

  • Responsible for storage capacity planning.

  • Execute change management and audit processes consistent with documented procedures.

  • Coordinate with local and remote IT team members for monitoring, troubleshooting, and daily production/operations.

  • Provide technical and operational support of Commvault backup solutions.

  • Install and manage Commvault client and server installs.

  • Schedule and manage backup routines of Windows, Linux, AIX and ESX clients both physical and virtual.

  • Perform reviews with IT staff, ensuring standards and practices are maintained. Work with IT staff on technical projects where infrastructure is needed or required.

  • Responsible for system engineering documentation being updated and accurate. Including ensuring changes made by external resources, like vendors or contract system integrators.

  • Coordinate with 24x7 NOC for monitoring, troubleshooting, and daily production/operations.

  • Participate in engineering engagements with partners, vendors, and customers, being a subject matter expert in the responsible technologies.

  • Attend and be prepared to contribute to required IT events and meetings on time.

  • Participate and respond to emergency events effectively while assigned to the "on call rotation".

  • Work with outside consultants and/or vendors, ensuring outcomes are achieved and standards maintained.

Supervisory Requirements:

  • None.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, relevant experience.

  • 5-7 years of experience supporting Storage and SAN/NAS systems.

  • 5+ years of experience supporting server backups - Commvault.

  • Minimum 5 years in a Storage/Backup Engineer or Administrator role.

  • Works well with others and is a skilled communicator both in writing and verbally.

  • Acts with professionalism both in person and when working on the phone with partners

  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and work under shifting deadlines with potentially ambiguous or nebulous requirements in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to decompose and simplify complex problems so that they can be solved easily.

  • Willingness to learn new technologies, often very quickly.

  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience supporting Brocade fiber channel and FCoE switches.

  • Experience supporting EMC storage arrays including VNX, VNXe, XtremIO, and Clariion arrays.

  • Hands-on experience with these technologies:

  • Commvault or other enterprise backup solution

  • VMWare virtualization

  • EMC Storage Technologies (SAN/NAS) experience is a plus

  • Brocade SAN switches (FC, FCoE, iSCSI) experience is a plus

  • Other storage technologies are a plus (IBM/Dell Equilogic)

  • Microsoft Windows Server/Active Directory, RHEL, AIX experience is a plus

  • ServiceNow, Zenoss experience is a plus
