Job Description

The Principal DevOps Engineer is responsible for Production support, DevOps, Change and Release management for critical applications and systems that support payments area, business line, and/or major product in Instant Payments (RTP, Zelle, FedNow.) domain.

You will Partner with Software Development Managers to promote DevOps and Change Management best practices across the money movement platform team. Enable teams to deliver the services on time. Defining and setting development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operations. Create governance framework to review, verify, and validate the software code deployment. Encouraging and building automated processes wherever possible. Make improvements in the methodologies used for configuration management and development of software that helps to find ways to use in configuration management. Team up with relevant development teams responsible for building the automation tools used to develop and deploy the software. Collaborate extensively with Operations, Prod support, Development, Application teams and other business units to resolve client issues while actively contributing to a growing knowledge network that improves the effectiveness of our team and the information available to our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and monitor the operations and integrity of production systems. Prioritize numerous issues of varying severity, and effectively working with App teams to manage the resolution of all issues within accepted service levels.

  • Participate in the Incident Management and Problem Management processes. Assist with root cause analysis, resolution and reporting.

  • Collaborate extensively with Operations, Prod support, Development, Application teams and other business units to resolve client issues while actively contributing to a growing knowledge network that improves the effectiveness of our team and the information available to our clients.

  • Support the release management process, ensuring that all production changes and releases of in-house and third-party applications are processed according to Change Management policies and procedures.

  • Select and deploy appropriate CI/CD tools

  • Schedule the release readiness reviews before deployment and milestone reviews after each release. Create plans for the implementation and deployment as per the release schedule.

  • Plan and give weekly updates on the release activities. Communicate with release managers from different IT departments.

  • Track progress and provide updates on Go-Live activities during deployments. You will be responsible for the Release Management lifecycle that involves the stages such as scheduling the release, coordinating between teams, and deployment of release as per the schedule.

  • Schedule the change approval meetings to discuss the release schedules with the team and find roadblocks, if any.

  • Maintain documentation related to procedures on build and release, various notifications lists, and dependencies.

  • Communicate with Senior Leadership status updates regarding critical issues for Money Movement.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Eight or more years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Thorough understanding of payments domains and how they contribute to the overall business strategy and alignment to the technical strategy

-Prior experience in Production Support payments/money movement platforms in a large financial services environment.

  • Experience creating and promoting DevOps best practices and Governance Frameworks.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days .

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $139,740.00 - $164,400.00 - $180,840.00
