What you'll be doing

The US Data Management Office is responsible for establishing data as a strategic asset for CIBC US Region, further enhancing data governance, building out our data and analytic capabilities, and developing the US Region data management strategy.

Reporting to the Data Management Director, US Region; the Data Operations Lead is a key member of the team. This person will be a highly organized, technically sophisticated, and detail-oriented individual that will need to collaborate with the business and fellow DMO colleagues to assure data is accurate for reporting.

This position will focus on different areas within Data Management, including Data Quality and Production Support.

  • Lead a small team on day to day operations for Data Quality, data bug investigations, and source to target reconciliation.

  • Manage new Data Quality intakes as well as assure data quality is executed daily in a timely manner.

  • Enhance current Data Quality framework to be more comprehensive and scalable; using Alteryx, SQL, PowerBI.

  • Monitor Data Quality coverage for Critical Data Elements (CDEs) meets regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor data profiling to assure we have proper Data Quality coverage on all appropriate fields.

  • Enhance the process for reviewing, tracking, resolving, and escalating identified data quality issues across data domains, ensuring consistent review and resolution.

  • When applicable, provides guidance and training to business data stewards on implementing data quality on their data domain, empowering them to drive data quality improvements.

  • Oversee daily source to target reconciliations are developed before data enters the Production environment.

  • Monitor Month End Production activities and assure the team is closing out their daily activities as well as help clear any blocker.

  • Stay on top of monthly Production releases and assure any data bugs are being thoroughly tested with documented results.

Who you are

  • You’re a professional. 10-15 years of experience, preferably in the Financial Services industry and within Data Quality.

  • You can demonstrate experience in commonly used Business Intelligence tools, e.g. Alteryx, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Business Objects, or other similar tools.

  • Ability to quickly build understanding and ownership of complex data patterns and relationships across multiple systems and databases.

  • Strong technical proficiency across multiple coding languages (SQL, Python, etc.), Business intelligence tools, and analytical platforms.

  • Self-Directed with excellent time management skills to deliver accurate results among multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Thrives in a dynamic environment and possesses inherent curiosity to deliver continuous improvement on existing product.

  • Ease of collaborating across multiple stakeholder teams and leaders.

  • You're fluent in English with proven strong communication skills, both written and oral

  • Your influence makes a difference. Ability to break down barriers and build consensus among project team members.

  • You’re goal-oriented. You have an aptitude to establish and articulate a vision, set goals, develop and execute strategies, and track and measure results.

  • You are a caring and accountable leader. You have 3 + years of experience developing and implementing strategic team goals. You have desire to mentor junior resources in data analysis techniques and provide them opportunities that align with their goals.

  • Demonstrated competence in the areas of Master Data Management, Data Modeling, Data Quality, Data Governance.

  • You give meaning to data. Highly developed critical reasoning skills with a passion about the "why".

  • You love to learn. Proven self-starter requiring little oversight.
