Job Description

U.S. Bank’s Subscription Finance (“SF”) team provides financing to private equity funds through structured credit facilities secured by the capital commitments of the funds’ limited partners (investors). The SF team is seeking an experienced underwriter to join our portfolio management team in Charlotte, NC.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Both individually and by guiding the work of junior colleagues:

  • Applying credit policy and industry expertise to underwrite and structure borrowing bases consisting of diverse investor types, including pension funds, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, other institutional investors, and high-net-worth investors

  • Performing related credit analysis on the underlying investors

  • Maintaining relevant data elements in SF’s collateral management application and related portfolio management databases in support of internal reporting and portfolio surveillance

  • Monitoring investor performance and internal/external credit ratings

  • Contributing to the team’s overall portfolio & risk management activities, including industry and geopolitical analyses pertinent to SF’s collateral base

  • Developing and maintaining reference guides and training materials to drive consistency and knowledge transfer

  • Supporting SF’s commitment to risk management and operational efficiency by championing continuous improvement in the policies, procedures, and tools employed by the business

  • Contributing subject matter expertise during refinements to credit policy & procedures

  • Supporting the ongoing training and development of more junior team members

  • In furtherance of the foregoing responsibilities, partnering with members of SF’s origination team, Commercial Real Estate and Corporate Banking portfolio management teams, Credit Risk Management, and other product stakeholders

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Eight or more years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Working knowledge of subscription finance market practices – particularly, the role of limited partners and related considerations

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), with an emphasis on Excel

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to effectively partner with internal product and coverage groups

  • Strong technical and analytical skills, including underwriting, financial statement analysis, and the ability to read and interpret legal documents

  • Considerable experience with credit policies and procedures

  • Effective organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment

  • Outstanding problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend and implement process and efficiency improvements

  • Experience leading and/or training others

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $123,165.00 - $144,900.00 - $159,390.00
