    Job Overview:

    The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) practices under the direction or supervision of the professional registered nurse. The LPN implements nursing care for assigned patients and assists the RN in the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of nursing care.

    General Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates competency in basic patient care skills, clerical/courier duties, stocking, transporting, performing EKG’s, phlebotomy, specific patient care duties, and other departmental duties as requested.

  • May be floated as needed treating all diversities.

  • Actively demonstrates a passion for patient care while demonstrating service recovery if needed; displays service excellence at all times.

  • Follows standard of care as defined within scope of Licensed Practical Nurse and reflects the American Nurses Association’s Code of Ethics for Nurses and the Florida Nurse Practice Act.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

  • High school education or GED/equivalent.

  • Completion of an approved LPN course with an active Florida LPN license.

  • Completion of basic arrhythmia (i.e. approved dysrhythmia course) and successful competency assessment within initial 90 days.

  • Completion of 30 hour IV Certification Course –State Board approved - prior to end of orientation.

  • Current BLS certification upon hire

  • For ER: CPI and NIH within first 90 days.

  • LPN experience, preferred.
