Job Summary

Responsible for contributing in project teams, troubleshooting operational issues, providing technical solutions to operational problems, new product implementation, implementing existing products and services and the overall upkeep and maintenance of designated areas of engineering. Acts in compliance with industry and Company technical requirements, standards, policies and procedures. Works with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge.

Please note:

  • This individual must be flexible in shifts. This could include second and third shifts.

  • This teammate will support a 24 x 4 shift schedule and rotating weekend on-call.

  • This is a Comcast Engineer 2 level role.

What You’ll Do:

  • Day to day responsibility of coaching and mentoring other team members on deployment methodology acts as the go to person for technical assistance.

  • Assists in the risk assessment, quality, and scope management of deployment project plans.

  • Responsible for the racking and stacking of equipment within the Data Center.

  • Responsible for the operational inventory of all Data Center equipment in dc Track.

  • Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots Data Center cabling and infrastructure.

  • Manages Data Center cable running lists, and records of deployed equipment.

  • Supervises the maintenance and repair of all facilities systems and hardware.

  • Ensure all equipment is labeled in compliance with NDCS standards.

  • Maintain copper, fiber, and power cord inventory.

  • Monitor security within the data center and raised floor environment.

  • Interfaces with vendors to maintain, troubleshoot and install related equipment.

  • Continued focus on streamlining Methods and Procedure for equipment deployment and implementation.

  • Minimal direction required for job duties and high performance.

  • Knowledge and experience of providing Tier I IT support.

  • Some travel required.

Skills & Experience We’re Looking For:

  • 3-5 years of experience in deployment and installation of switches, routers, and servers

  • 3-5 years of experience in High-Speed Data (HSD), Voice, IP, and Data Networking.

  • Knowledge of all aspects of power generation and power distribution including facility and cabinet based PDU’s, ATS’s, and UPS’s.

  • Diverse knowledge of HVAC dynamics.

  • Proven experience to effectively plan project installations and forecast infrastructure growth - including ordering supplies, maintaining inventory control, and documenting processes.

  • Basic knowledge of all current types of networking and server hardware.

  • Demonstrated experience documenting policies and procedures.

  • Proven analytical, problem solving and organizational abilities.

  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to work with vendors, employees, and management.

  • Effective leadership skills to resolve conflicts and retain high morale.

  • Good personal computer skills.

Required Skills:

  • Solid technical skills relative to HSD and Voice network engineering, planning and management including experience with IP routers, and switches.

  • Advanced understanding of the IP protocol suite (e.g., ARP, IP, TCP, DNS, SNMP).

  • Strong grasp on server administration (i.e., Unix, Linux and Windows platforms).

  • Strong understanding of AC/DC power configurations and HVAC related thermal architecture.

  • Data Center planning and engineering.

  • Solid abilities using Microsoft Office.

  • Proven analytical skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education

Associate's Degree
