What You'll Do
As the Assistant Director of Alum Engagement, you will provide leadership to operationalize the strategy for creating access to and fostering connection between students and alums in the LSA Community. The responsibilities for this role include: (1) leadership and supervision of a team, (2) cultivating a diverse alum portfolio, (3) fostering campus relationships and (4) overseeing on- and off- campus programmatic engagement. This role reports to the Director of Alum Engagement.

As such, the Alum Engagement (AE) team strives to provide access to a diverse community of alums and contacts who can offer advice and resources, mentorship, and opportunities that are inclusive of the identities, experiences, and goals of LSA students. We are committed to creating opportunities for LSA students to cultivate community, connection and confidence along their professional identity development journey. In this way, the Alum Engagement team plays an important role in achieving the mission and vision of the LSA Opportunity Hub.
Responsibilities*
Lead a team of three full-time direct reports, some of whom also supervise student staff
Facilitate team decision-making and maximize the contributions of each team member by providing coaching and support
Oversee the implementation of the alum engagement strategy that fosters connection and community for LSA students; expand on the areas of communication and stewardship of the alum portfolio
Identify opportunities to align and integrate alum engagement work across the Hub as well as where alum engagement can amplify the work of broader Hub efforts
Develop an inclusive alum mentor training program centered on the Hubs values and commitment to LSA students
Remain informed of key data and utilize insights to inform strategy and programming offered by the alum engagement team
Cultivate a diverse alum relationship portfolio which includes on and off-campus engagement and stewardship; Travel within for engagements as needed (approximately one trip every 6-8 weeks)
Engage in and contribute to the Hubs strategic and annual planning processes, leadership meetings, liaison program and other related work across LSA and the University of Michigan
Assist campus colleagues such as LSA Advancement and recruitment efforts at off-campus events for alum and prospective students, as needed
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor degree or equivalent education and experience
Experience in alum engagement, career services or student services
Progressive leadership experience
Commitment to creating equity, access, and inclusive engagement; commitment to furthering the development of antiracist practices
Demonstrated history of successful supervisory experience
