We are looking for an Area Trade Compliance Manager, Americas to join our team reporting to the Head of Global Trade Compliance.

Note: this position is located in Allen, TX Up to 15% travel domestic with occasional need to Finland, Italy, or China.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Area Trade Compliance Manager, Americas role is responsible for his/her assigned dedicated country groups and a team of experts, executing the Global Trade Compliance scope of responsibilities on an area level. This role will also develop the area according to business strategy & needs to ensure compliance, seek for opportunities and mitigate risks working in close cooperation with internal and external stakeholders and participating in relevant internal and external governance forums.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the global trade compliance scope of responsibilities on an area level (North America, Mexico & Canada)

  • Be responsible for the trade compliance risk assessment & mitigation, opportunity identification and related development within the area

  • Lead a team of trade compliance professionals that includes 2 direct reports.

  • Develop the area according to trade compliance needs aligned with KONE strategy and values (courage, collaboration, customer, care).

  • Monitor relevant regulatory developments applicable to the KONE environment and actively participate to relevant external forums such as trade associations, chamber of commerce and government agencies.

  • Liaise with internal parties, such as procurement, logistics, tax, finance, compliance and local business units, and external parties such as trade counsel and third-party advisors.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Minimum of 8+ years relevant trade compliance experience on an area level (North America, Mexico, Canada), preferably in a multinational manufacturing, construction, aerospace (closer to customer base), and technology environment.

  • Knowledge of trade compliance regulatory requirements (Licensed customs broker is a plus).

  • Willingness to continuously develop own expertise in the field of trade compliance.

  • High motivation to work as part of a global team, make effective decisions and drive matters in a timely manner.

  • Experience in people management, coaching and talent development.

  • Strong compliance mindset and able to independently manage cross-functional activities in a changing environment.

  • Experience of working in an international and multicultural environment with a record of managing both internal and external stakeholders.

  • The ability to collect, manage and analyze data in a structured and efficient manner, and to identify key issues and root causes.

  • The ability to summarize and present complex facts to non-specialist audiences, including senior leadership.

  • Strong communication, influence & collaboration skills.

  • Availability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally when necessary.
